So lately when I’ve been in my local Superdrug, a L’oreal lipstick has been catching my eye, it’s called “Pure Gold” and as you can probably guess by the name it is a gold coloured lipstick. Now as a pale person I feel like I’m fairly outgoing with my lipsticks, but this one confused me. Apart from Halloween, when would you have chance to put on a gold lipstick? But despite my doubts I have picked it up and put it back God knows how many times, apart from today. Today I picked up the gold lipstick and another two from the collection (L’oreal Gold Obsession).
After watching a Vlog last night explaining the concept behind them and I just couldn’t help but think my make-up collection NEEDED them, especially for Autumn and Winter. The names of the ones I picked up are..
The other two colours that I never picked up are; Pink Gold (obviously a pink colour) and Rouge Gold (a nice red colour). You don’t need to actually buy the gold lipstick itself as all the lipsticks in the collection have got subtle gold flecks in them.
But if you do decide to buy the Pure Gold lipstick you can obviously use it by itself if your feeling brave, or you use it as a top coat however you wish. For example you can use it all over your lips for a real intense colour, or just in the centre for that ombre fuller lips kinda look. However if your just not feeling the whole gold lipstick vibe, then you can always just get the lipstick colours that you like and wear it by itself.
Rating a lipstick on its colour is all good and well but what is the rest of it like? Well they look super sleek and sexy in their ombre matt black to gold packaging…
And the lipsticks look like they will be matt when you first look at them, but when you apply them the glide onto your lips like its nobody’s business and they are nice and glossy. According to the L’oreal information box on their website they have added moisture enriching oil, Omega 3, to the formula in order to create this glossy texture so that your lips don’t dry out. Now that is knowing what your customers need or what? There is nothing worse when the cold weather hits, then a drying lipstick. I mean you already have that battle between nice looking lips and lips that think they have just got out of the Sahara desert, this time of year as it is, never mind adding lipstick on top of that which feels like its sucking what moisture you have out! But you really don’t have to worry with this collection. Normally I would wear a lip liner when wearing any kind of lipstick, but I feel that with these ones you might be able to get away with not wearing one, but we need to test that theory yet.
